Community Health & Social Initiatives in Mumbai
Chronic care should not be a privilege. A fixed share of our clinical hours every month is reserved for patients who cannot pay for them.
Free and subsidised consultations
Every month a defined number of consultation slots at the Sion clinic are reserved at no charge for patients referred by community workers, local trusts and municipal school teachers. Medicines for these patients are dispensed free from the clinic dispensary.
Patients under active cancer treatment who are struggling financially are offered supportive care at a subsidised fee, because the side-effect burden of chemotherapy and radiotherapy does not wait for a family's finances to recover.
Community health camps
We run periodic health camps in and around Sion, Wadala, Dharavi, Chembur, Matunga and Kurla in partnership with residential societies, mosques, temples and local welfare groups. A typical camp covers blood pressure and blood sugar screening, basic nutrition counselling, and homeopathic consultation for chronic complaints such as joint pain, skin disease, asthma and menstrual disorders.
- Free screening for hypertension, diabetes risk and anaemia
- Chronic disease consultation with follow-up scheduling
- Women's health and menstrual health counselling
- Adolescent skin, hair and nutrition guidance
Health literacy and education
Misinformation causes real harm — patients stop prescribed medication, delay biopsies, or spend savings on unverified remedies. Our written guides, video explainers and school sessions are deliberately plain-spoken about what homeopathy can and cannot do, and about when a patient must see an oncologist, cardiologist or emergency department instead.
Downloadable patient guides and pamphlets from the clinic are made available free on our downloads page so community workers can print and distribute them.
Working with other organisations
We welcome partnerships with NGOs, corporate CSR teams, housing societies, schools and cancer support groups in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane who want to host a camp or an education session. Write to info@drshadaab.in with the location, expected attendance and dates.
